New networks

As SPP regions project develops, it now counts eight newly formed sustainable public procurement (SPP) networks joining the project.

The new networks cover and include the following geographical areas:

Piedmont Region: The Piedimont Region aims to include GPP in policy and plans development related to the region and to promote green procurement inside Regional Body and Regional Subsidiary Companies. It fits within the Region Waste Regional Plan, implemented in January 2017, which includes explicit mention of targets related to GPP.

 


Italian metropolitan cities: The network includes the 13 Italian Metropolitan Cities of Bari, Bologna, Cagliari, Catania, Firenze, Genova, Messina, Milano, Napoli, Roma Capitale, Reggio Calabria, Palermo, Torino. The network's objective include implementation of GPP, dissemination of GPP, exchange on best practices and development of GPP Regional Plan.


GPP Salento NET, Italy: The Network aims to improve sustainability criteria and create buying groups, to start training meetings and workshops and working groups. Puglia region was among the first Italian regions to enact the law for GPP at a regional plan.

Balearic Network of Sustainable and Innovative Public Procurement, Spain: The Network promotes sustainable and eco-innovative public procurement at local and regional level, aims to share good practices and plan sustainable tenders. The network will start to implement a process of greening their own tenders.

Red Andaluza de Compra Pública Sostenible, Spain: The Network counts more than 37 members and aims to provide a framework for multileveled cooperation among relevant stakeholders, training and capacity building, face-to-face meetings between companies and public procurers.

Catalan Green Public Procurement Networking Group, Spain: The Network aims to exchange and share information about plan call for tenders and environmental criteria, identify common interests and priority actions areas, set up of working groups and annual meetings on the topic of sustainable public procurement. The network will start to implement a process of greening their own tenders

Helsinki Metropolitan Area: Members of the Network are Vanta, Espo, HSY and overal objectives of the network are capacity building, development of common environmental and social criteria, set up of thematic working groups and elaboration of materials and tools.

 


London Responsible Procurement Network: The Network's activities and objectives include sharing ideas and good practices, facilitating dialogue among members on the topic of sustainable public procurement, ensuring compliance with policies, acts and regulations related to SPP. Working groups and meetings' topic included socially responsible responsible procurement and ethical sourcing. The Network is considering establishing a set of London-Wide ethical sourcing principles/supplier code of conduct.
